Born in Madrid, Spain, Rodri known as Rodrigo Hernández Cascante, grew up in a football culture where technical ability and tactical intelligence are treated almost as a national language.

His football education began at Rayo Majadahonda, before he joined the Atlético Madrid youth academy in 2007 at the age of 11. From those early years, coaches recognised his unusual understanding of the game. He eventually broke into the first team, returned to Atlético Madrid and, in 2019, made the move to Manchester City, where Pep Guardiola would transform him into one of the most influential defensive midfielders in world football.

Today, Rodri stands as one of the most decorated Spanish footballers of his generation. He has won the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Nations League and UEFA European Championship, while collecting some of football’s most prestigious individual honours. But the greatest chapter of his career came in 2026.
